The Yoga Institute's Advanced Diploma Course offers 200 hours of yoga studies and teacher training over a minimum of 6 months. The framework of the Advanced Diploma course is the panca maya (often called the five koshas), with a particular focus on the mind and mental health. Yoga's multidimensional model of the human person includes the body, breath, mind and emotions. When these dimensions are in balance then we have the potential for our lives to flourish. This course focuses on our own growth and personal development as Yoga teachers, and developing our capacity to skilfully apply the many tools to yoga to best guide our students.

This course unit will focus on the understanding and teaching of more challenging (visesa) postures and dynamic, challenging sequences of postures (vinyasa krama) based on the classical techniques of T Krishnamacharya.

Yoga Anatomy with Leslie Kaminoff : 20 hour online course

Inspired by his studies with T.K.V. Yoga Energetics II - Cakra Energy Centres
Based on an understanding of the multi-dimensional nature of the human person, Yoga overlays a subtle physiology and intricate network of energy systems.
In Yoga Energetics II you will:
- Revise the of model of panca maya (koshas)
- Develop your understanding & experience of chakra energy centres
- Learn about how the chakras interact with prana in the maintenance of good health, including mind & emotional aspects.
- Enhance your capacity to skilfully integrate chakras into yoga practice design.

Meditation II (including Mindfulness) 15 hour course (inc directed home study)
Developing the capacity to bring a calm focus and transformation to the mind, is the essence of Yoga.
In this module you will:
* Learn the basic technique of mindfulness
* Learn and practice advanced yoga meditation techniques, including use of
* symbolic gestures (mudra & nyasa)
* power of intention (samkalpa) and visualisation (bhavana)
* mantra, sound and chanting
* Learn the principles of the vinyasa krama (appropriate steps) of designing and teaching meditation practices
* Develop your capacity to match the mind to the most appropriate meditation technique (viniyoga)

Yoga Psychology and Mental Health
Yoga practice is underpinned by a time-tested philosophical and psychological framework. As contemporary yoga evolves, and its significance in the area of mental health, it is important to develop an understanding of this ancient system of wisdom.
In this Yoga Psychology module you will:
- Explore themes of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, the foundational text of yoga
- Contextualise the key learnings from these ancient texts within yoga practice today

Integrated Practice Design with Advanced Techniques and Teaching Skills 12 hour course
In this course you will consolidate your ability to design highly effective practices, combining various yoga techniques for specific groups and personal practices for individual needs.
Pre-requisites: understanding of concept of vinyasa krama, and basic experience of practice design and planning for group classes and personal practices. (e.g. Yoga Institute - Practice Design & Planning).

• Practicum 30 Hours
The teaching practicum program provides a valuable opportunity to consolidate your learning, with the support of mentor. The focus of this practicum is independent teaching and designing personal yoga practices for private clients.
• Professional Mentoring 5 hours
Yoga mentoring will provide you with ongoing guidance in your personal and professional yoga journey. We recommend a mentoring session each month during the study program. A minimum of 3 sessions is required. There is an expectation that trainees will do a regular home yoga practice.

Note: Some courses have prerequisites.
* Recognition of Prior Learning might be available to cover some of this requirement. Some workshops might be scheduled in the second half of the year.
